Cecil smiled as Nathaniel; played the song of healing with him… It sounded great. Though he had already known that Nathaniel wouldn’t want to sing with him. Though the song sounded different somehow. The keys were being stuck differently. Then again, two different people were playing. No two people would play the same. No matter how hard they tried, no two people played identically.
Though the way Nathaniel played, it was almost as though he was singing. He smiled and looked over to the twins. Their chests were moving in harmony. That was a sound that they were almost to the land of dreams. He started to play softer and leaned over to Nathaniel.
“ Young master, would you play a bit soft to match me? I need to lead the twins farther into the dream world.” Cecil asked, hoping Nathaniel would comply and play softer.
Clyde’s hands tightened on the chair he was sitting in. How? How could he get so close to Cecil?! He had gotten Cecil to tell him half of what he knew. An even that took forever! Yet Nathaniel was only there for about an hour, maybe two! He grit his teeth together. He was supposed to be Cecil’s closest friend. He was supposed to know every stop Cecil made before he made it. This completely threw him off.
Clyde was there when Cecil needed a shoulder to cry on. Clyde was there when Cecil needed him, not Nathaniel! Maybe, just maybe he was a little jealous…
Who was he kidding?! He was a lot of jealous! It was fine when Cecil let Nathaniel in a little and okay when he let him in a little bit more, but playing the piano with him was just too much!
‘Cecil, why? Why are you letting it crumble for him?’ Clyde thought as he glared at Nathaniel.
Cecil felt a change in the air and looked towards Clyde. He didn’t know why, but that was whom he though the strange feeling was coming from. Unfortunately, he was right. Clyde was glaring at someone. It was either him or Nathaniel. If he had to place his life on it, he would say Nathaniel.
What had Nathaniel done? At his count, Nathaniel had done nothing wrong. It was Himself, Cecil, at fault. He had caused Nathaniel to get mad at him. It was the right reactions to everything Cecil had done. So therefore if Clyde was glaring at anyone, it should be Him.
‘Clyde, just stop glaring. Your right eye is twitching… Oh…’ Cecil thought.
Clyde was jealous? Of Nathaniel?! If there was once thing Cecil knew, was that when Clyde was jealous, his right eye would twitch. And boy was it twitching! He nearly laughed. That was rich! But He didn’t want Clyde to kill Nathaniel from looking at him. Let’s face it, If looks could kill, Nathaniel would be dying a gory death at the moment.
Cecil sighed. He crossed his eyes and stuck out his tongue to Clyde. That always distracted him and made him smile for a while. Clyde’s eyes darted to the owner of a pink organ that was currently pointing towards him. He frowned but soon smiled at the force of his muscles stretching upward.
Okay… Maybe he’d let Nathaniel live tonight… Cecil smiled and his shoulders shook a little, making him strike the key’s differently. He hadn’t meant to but, he just knew Clyde so well!
“Young Master, I suggest you watch what you say next… It seems that Clyde is jealous of you.” Cecil whispered as he saw Ron and Flandre take the twins out of the room.
He sighed in relief. They were asleep. That was a good thing believe it or not. If they hadn’t gone to sleep, he would have to play until they did… That had lasted about three days on end and he couldn’t play any piece for awhile let alone use his hands.

Nathaniel nodded at Cecil’s request and changed the rhythm a little, while he struck the keys softer than before and slowly had the melody fade out, hearing how two of the servants – or Cecil’s friends as the actor referred to them – moved around. There was a rustle of clothes, footsteps and the sound of a door opening and closing. Nathaniel figured that it was probably the twins who were being put to bed. That meant that all piano playing was coming to an end. A shame really. He had been enjoying himself for quite a while already.
Something about the atmosphere seemed to have changed and Nathaniel could not help but think that Clyde was being gloomy. He did not really care, but he certainly believed he was missing some manners. Servants were not supposed to make the guests ill at ease – not that he felt that way but it was a matter of principle. Had he been a servant of the Sinclair household he would surely have received a scolding and if the situation was severe he would have been fired instantly. Luckily for Clyde he was Cecil’s servant and not Nathaniel’s stepfather’s. I suppose that there are different rules when the servant happens to be your friend.
Nathaniel leaned closer to better hear the words that Cecil was whispering to him, and then started to ponder what he meant with jealous. He did not understand why Clyde would be jealous of him. Was it because he was sitting so close to Cecil? If so the fact that Nathaniel had leaned closer to Cecil just a few seconds ago had not exactly been a wise move. Not if he did not want the servant to be even more jealous. But if the reason why Clyde felt jealous was because he sat close to Cecil then did that mean he… swung that way? And… does that mean Cecil swings that way as well?
Suddenly without warning Nathaniel’s cheeks turned bright red with heat, though he found himself unable to fully understand why. He stood right up from the piano chair happy that they had managed to finish the piece before he made this sudden break in their conversation. He turned to Cecil and gave him a small bow hoping his hair would cover for most of the redness. This was so much not like him! How embarrassing!
“I apologize but I think I will retire as well. It has been a long day and it has exhausted me. I will see you again in the morning. Hannah!” He turned towards his nanny and held his hand out towards her, expecting her to grab it and lead him to his room. She followed his order for once without asking any questions though he could feel that she was curious about what was going on. As he requested, she lead him to his room and when they reached it they both stopped in front of his door. Knowing how his nanny was just about to babble out all of her thoughts, Nathaniel raised his hand and brought her to silence. “I’ll be fine on my own, Nanny. Make sure to wake me early in the morning.”
Without any further explanation as to why he had suddenly decided to end the otherwise pleasant evening – yes he had come to think of it like that despite of what had happened earlier – Nathaniel stepped into his room and closed the door behind him, leaning up against it as he sank down in his knees both hands reaching for his cheeks. They were both warm though not to the same extent as earlier. What in the world was happening to him?! Was he not mad at Cecil? He surely had not forgiven him for what had happened earlier and he still did not plan to let him get away with it so easily. Maybe it was because he was mad? Of course that had to be it. There was no other logical explanation to it.
Finally satisfied with this conclusion Nathaniel opened his eyes and walked over to the bed where his nightshirt lay neatly folded and had been prepared for him probably while they had been eating their dinner. He quickly changed and put his borrowed clothes on a chair next to the bed before he finally crawled under the duvet and laid his head on the pillow. Though he wanted to fall asleep right away he still felt very much awake and it would take at least an hour for him to fall properly asleep.
***
Nathaniel suddenly sat straight up in his bed, sweat pouring down his face. His eyes were wide open and scanned the room thoroughly to see if there was anyone in there with him, his body shaking violently in the process. He was scared, so scared that he could not make his body stop shaking in fright. Had he screamed? He was not sure though it would not have been odd if he had. The dim light in the room did not help soothing his nerves and suddenly he felt that his bed was the most dangerous place to be at the moment. As a result he desperately fought to get out of it as fast as possible, causing his feet to get tangled up in the blanket and he more fell than crawled out of the bed. He landed hard on the floor and hurt his knee though he did not care. He just wanted to get away from there as fast as possible. Pulling his blanket after him he hurried over to the darkest corner in the room as silently as he could and wrapped the blanket around his back and over his head as he sat down with his back against the wall, taking a quick glance around the room. Nothing. He pulled his legs up underneath him held his hands for his ears and rocked his body back and forth, still trembling like a leaf. He was coming. Nathaniel was sure of it and it made him ever so scarred. He shut eyes tight together. There were running footsteps on the corridor coming closer, closer and closer…

((OOC: It's fine! Please don't die from this one!)) ________________________________________________________ Cecil’s head cocked to the side as Nathaniel got up. HE smiled though when Nathaniel bowed to him and the quick sight of red he’d seen. Hmm… Guess he should have told him that the liked both sexes. HE mentally laughed. He knew that Nathaniel though he and Clyde swung That way. He did, Clyde didn’t, though it would be hard to tell.
“ Yes, I see. I hope you sleep well Young Master. As you Hannah.” Cecil said as he watched Hannah and Nathaniel leave.
He closed off the covering of the piano and shooed everyone else to bed.
“Please sleep well.” They wished each other.
Cecil grabbed a candle holder and placed a lit candle in it. He waited until the others were gone an away from him. Good. Now he could watch over them. He went in to “Knight” mode and began scanning the area of his house. He knew he needn’t do it, but right now, it was force of habit. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing one of his friends at night, so he stood guard for a while. He would check every nook and cranny before he deemed it safe to go to bed.
He paced them, various paintings hanging from the wall, leading to the outside world. He opened the door and close it on his way out. He looked and saw that there was a pretty thick layer of snow, but someone could be in there, waiting for him to leave. His eyes narrowed and he put a lock on the door, just to be safe. He walked the perimeter, looking up and down the walls. No one could get in. At least that’s what the girl had told him. And even if they did, they’d have to deal with some of the corridors. They placed ticks on the eyes.
Cecil looked around, his purple eyes almost blending in with the night. He wouldn’t forgive anyone whom got in and hurt anyone within his care. HE stopped. He was back to the front already. He should check once more, but doubted that anyone would still be out there, so he used his master key to open the door. Once inside he locked it back. He began walking to the kitchen to clean up a bit. The pots were already clean, as were the cup and glasses. Did he do that before or did his friends do it? He shook it off. One less thing to worry about.
He walked out of the kitchen and towards the servant’s corridors. It was keep better than you would expect. In fact, there was no difference in the furnishings and decorations. It just had his friends inside of it. He checked May and Jay’s room first. He creaked the door open and saw that they were both in May’s bed. It looked like they were protecting each other, even in their sleep. HE smiled and closed the door.
He went across the hall to Flandre’s room. He slowly opened that one and prepared to duck. Something would always strike him… But nothing came… This time. He creped up to her bead and saw her chest falling down, only to raise back up. HE walked back out of the room, only to slip on her carpet. He knew it was far too good to be true. He got up and closed her door. He shook off his clothes and straightened them before going into Beth’s room that was across the hall. He started to open the door, but thought against it. Last time he’d done that, that was the reason his hair was in it’s current style. He shivered.
He crossed the hall way to Ron’s room. He opened the door and walked in the room. Ron wasn’t in his bed? That would mean that he was with Beth. They were connected at the hip or something. He walked out the room and hook his head. He worried if he was going to have mini Rons and Beths running around anytime soon. He hoped not. He looked at the far end of the hall. Only one room and it belonged to Clyde.
He walked over to the room and peeked his head in. There was already a candle lit. He walked inside and saw Clyde sitting on his head, staring at something. Cecil looked in its direction and saw nothing but a wall. Cecil walked towards Clyde and laid a hand on his shoulder.
“Lyde, you okay?” Cecil asked.
Clyde mumbled something un audioable.
“Wha?” Cecil asked.
“ No I’m not.” Clyde said.
“Why?” Cecil asked, worried for his friend.
“You and that kid! Nathaniel!” Clyde said.
Cecil nodded, he’d had a feeling about this.
“ You let him make your mask crumble! I don’t even know why! You let him know more about you in an hour than in three of my years knowing you! How in the Hell is that far Ceil?! Hunh?! Do you trust him more than you trust us anymore? Do you even trust us? Do you still lie us or do you hate us?!” Clyde yelled.
If they weren’t in the servant’s corridors, Clyde would have waken up the whole house.
“Maybe I just trust Nathaniel. He reminded me a little too much as you. You may not look a like, but you two can sure put me in my place when needed. And it will be in a way that I understand. He was also very patient with me Clyde. That alone was enough trust. If you don’t like my judgment of friends than you are not longer my friend Clyde. You know I choose my friends very carefully. I trust all of you with my life as I expect you all to trust yours to me. I didn’t meant for you to get Jealous okay Clyde. I’ll watch my step with him from now on, okay?” Cecil asked.
After a moment’s time Clyde nodded.
“ Good, now go to sleep. I’ve looked over the outside and a bit of the inside where things are valuable. I’ll check once more when I awaken tomorrow morning.” Cecil said as he pulled the sheets over Clyde.
He put out Clyde’s candle and walked out of the room. He walked down the hallway and wished everyone a good night. He walked to his room. This meant up the stairs and turning a corner. He put his hand on his door knob. Maybe he could go and check on Nathaniel… Alright, after he changed his clothes. After all, what could go wrong?
Cecil peeled off his clothe and was in the middle of putting on his night pants when a scream made him jump. It couldn’t have been Hannah’s o that only left Nathaniel! But, Nathaniel didn’t seem like the type to scream like that. He hear a thud next and decided that that was it. He opened his door after ringing the bells for his friends to come and ran down the hallway in only his pant. And even then, those where three-fourths of the way done. He turned Nathaniel’s door knob, but it wouldn’t turn. So he did the only other thing that popped inside his head. He backed up and knocked the door down.
It may not have been his best idea, but it got the door down right? He walked in the door, not even aware that his friends and Hannah… Well Hannah was his friend too but… He scanned the dimly lit room for Nathaniel. His eyes landed on a figure in the corner and he padded slowly to it. Was he hurt? Why was he in a corner? He knew he’d regret it later but he gently, if not touched Nathaniel with genuine worry in his voice and on his face.
“Young Master, is something wrong? Are you okay?” He asked.

His heart was beating so fast and so violently that he thought for sure that it was going to jump right out of his chest. He had not moved an inch from his improvised hiding place though he was beginning to realize that hiding under the bed might have been a better choice. Unfortunately he was too scared to move anywhere else now and deep inside he knew that no matter where he hid he would always be found, which was yet another reason why he felt so terrified. It was no use. He could not escape. Not the way he was right not. He knew he had to come up with a plan but his mind went blank as he waited for the inevitable.
Nathaniel had gotten stuck in a childhood memory from which he was unable to escape. Had he been his normal self he would just have gotten back to sleep after having drunk a bit of water to cool him down after a nightmare like that. Unfortunately, he did not even seem to be aware of the fact that he was awake and was struck by a moment of shock. Moments like these happened now and then but were extremely rare and Nathaniel had honestly thought that he had already gotten over them. But traumas as deep-rooted as his were not so easy to get over, and when he finally regained his normal self he would surely hate to have had a relapse while being in another person’s house, especially if said person was to witness it – which was actually about to happen.
He heard someone pull in the door but it was already locked, something he always made sure to do whenever he went to bed. He found himself unable to sleep otherwise. But just like he had guess he was persistent and would not just give up that easily and so with a huge crash that caused Nathaniel to jump in his corner the door burst open and as the half-naked figure stepped in, Nathaniel did his best to make himself as small as possible. He was spotted. He could feel the eyes on him. The person stepped closer and bended down to touch him, only causing Nathaniel to shake even more. Then the person spoke in such a gentle and concerned voice that caused the earl to open his eyes in surprise. It was not him? Then could it really be…? It had to be! He could not think of any other explanation and sudden relief washed in over him.
“Brother!” Nathaniel flung himself to Cecil, having mistaken him for being Cedric though he had already passed away years ago. For a moment his crimson eyes were visible then they were buried like the rest of his face in the actor’s chest. He clung to him, refusing to let go as the tears he had held in started to flow down his cheeks and fall on Cecil’s skin. “I was… so scared. Please don’t leave me alone anymore,” Nathaniel whispered between the soft sobs that escaped his lips. Then Hannah was there standing in the door watching the scenario before her, her eyes growing bigger by the second.
“Young Master! Your eyes!” She ran over to his side and tried to pull him away from Cecil, only resulting in making Nathaniel even more upset and she found herself unable to tear him away from the actor. This was bad. Really bad. Nathaniel had not been like this for six years and she had no idea why his past trauma decided to act up now of all times. The worst thing was she knew how burdened Nathaniel would in the morning if he found out. Hannah turned her eyes to Cecil, worry clearly visible in her eyes. “I’m sorry you had to see him like this.”

Cecil almost snatched his hand away when he had felt Nathaniel jump and shiver under his touch. Was he scared or cold? He saw Nathaniel’s eyes snap open and his own widened. Crimson red eyes? They were uncommon, but who was he to talk? Red eyes were more common than purple eyes were they not?
Cecil’s eyes widened even farther when Nathaniel flung his arms around his person. Brother? He thought that Cecil was his brother? Wait, Nathaniel has a brother? Cecil shivered a little as he felt something wet hit his chest. He was crying? Many, many things running through Cecil’s head right now… not good.
Don’t leave him? Did Nathaniel honestly think that he was his brother? He turned his head to him friends in the room. He looked to them for advice. He wasn’t all too great at comforting people…Well, at the moment he’s dawn a blank in his mind.
He saw Hannah rush to them saying something about Nathaniel’s eyes and trying to pull Nathaniel from him. He felt Nathaniel strengthen his hold on him and sob a little louder. He was that scared? Something must have happened. Something bad.
“It’s okay Hannah. I understand his position a little.” Cecil said as he looked back to Clyde as if to say “Isn’t that right?”.
How did Clyde, or his mother for that matter, calm him down when something like this happened? He turned his head back to Nathaniel and pet his head gently.
“There, There Nathan,” He almost flinched when he’d said that, “ It’s okay Brother’s here. I won’t let anything get you.” Cecil said as he felt a cold sweat going down his neck.
He hadn’t had much experience calming someone down. Much less acting to be one’s brother! He made gentle shushing sounds as he picked Nathaniel up. Is this what Clyde had to go through? He envied Clyde. He wasn’t used to this, but he didn’t mind it. He walked to the bed and sat on it. He let Nathaniel sit in his lap as he rocked back and forth.
“Hannah, how long do you think he’s going to be like this? I don’t mind, I just want to know so I’ll know when to duck. I just have a feeling he’ll get me later.” Cecil said.
It was true. He rally did think Nathaniel would get him later. He looked to Clyde and saw him snicker at him. Cecil’s eye twitched. All he had to do was wait until Nathaniel was back to normal so that he could strangle Clyde.

Nathaniel did not seem to notice any of the things going on around him. He only cared about his brother who was finally here with him after he had waited so long for him to come. He had not expected it really, but this pleasant surprise made his heart jump and somehow his tears just would not stop falling. He had never been allowed to show his true emotions. His mother had always made that clear to him. But with Cedric it was different. Cedric cared about him. Cedric would not hurt him but look out for him and protect him, just like he had always said that he would. Cedric was finally here and this thought made Nathaniel cling even more to him. He was still very much upset and though Cedric’s presence was soothing in itself he still had this feeling that he was lurking around somewhere and would come to find him as soon as Cedric left his room.
Then when Cedric spoke to him in such a gentle voice Nathaniel almost could not believe his words. His beautiful teary eyes sought his as a faint shivering smile crossed his lips. “Really? You’ll protect me? You promise?” That was just too good to be true but his comforting arms around him felt so real and he could but lean his head against his brother’s chest, still softly sobbing though it had calmed down significantly. He felt how he was lifted from the ground and carefully carried to the bed where he was placed on his brother’s lap. Such a good feeling that was. As he was rocked back and forth his sobbing got softer though the tears were still rolling silently down his cheeks. Nathaniel had his head on his brother’s shoulder and slowly closed his eyes as he with his full body weight just leaned up against Cedric’s bare chest, hands crossing in his lap.
Hannah looked from Nathaniel to Cecil. The actor was handling the situation very well, better than she had dared to hope for and she felt eternally grateful for it. He did what she would have been unable to do – he gave Cedric back to Nathaniel even if was just until the earl fell asleep. A smile crossed her old lips. Even though Nathaniel was still crying he looked so peaceful and much more relaxed than she had seen him in a while. Sure he always made it look as if he was calm and composed when he was near other people, but it was still nothing compared to the real thing. Hannah’s eyes shifted to Cecil and she listened to his question carefully before answering, worry once again appearing on her face.
“He will be back to normal again in the morning when he has gotten some sleep. And you’re right. Young Master will definitely try to get back at you if he finds out, but he normally doesn’t remember these episodes in the morning. So as long as you and your servants keep quiet about then everything should be okay. But if you value your life you won’t let him find out,” Hannah’s said, her eyes getting darker at the last sentence clearly showing that she was serious. Nathaniel would not be able to stand that someone had gotten so close to him. Not if he did not yet trust him. Then again since he so blindly believed that Cecil was his brother, maybe that was a sign to tell them that he actually like Cecil despite not being willing to admit it?
Hannah’s line of thoughts were immediately interrupted when Nathaniel opened his eyes to look at the actor, the nanny jumping as she realized that she had completely forgotten about the issue of his eyes. “You’ll stay with me right, Brother? You’ll sleep right next to me right?” Hannah’s face turned pale. “Young Master!” But he did not react to her. He had only eyes for his brother.

So Nathaniel was going through an episode? He had guessed that much. Thought the thought never occurred to him that Nathaniel would be going through something like this. Ever. Hearing Hannah’s explanation he nodded. He would never mention anything of this night. He wanted his life.
HE looked to his friends as if to asked them also. He saw the twins nod gently, still a little foggy from sleep. Ron and Beth shared a smile and winked at him. Flandre had her arms crossed the whole time, probably mad that she was woken up, but she non of the less nodded also. His eyes feel on Clyde.
Clyde seemed to be tossing around the idea of letting Cecil do this. But he remembered his talk just a few minutes ago. Plus, he knew what Cecil would have to go through, so that was payment enough. He nodded at Cecil a smile on his face too. Cecil bowed his head in thanks to all of his friends. That would really help a lot if they zipped their mouths about this.
Cecil turned his attention back to his ‘little brother’. What could have caused this? How could such a strong male become such a fragile child? The next question caught him off guard though. His eyes seemed to widen a bit. If he said no, who knows what could have happened! It could get worse, but Hannah seemed to be against it. Clyde walked over to Hannah and pulled her back to where he and the others were.
“Hannah, trust me. Cecil will be fine. He wakes up at the slightest mishap in the house…I could drop a rose petal on the other side of the house and he would think that I broke a vase. So he’ll wake up at the slightest signs of Nathaniel waking up. If he doesn’t, I’m sure he’ll be able to come up with a good excuse of why he’s in Nathaniel’s bed. So please don’t worry.” Clyde said in a calm tone.
“Yes Miss Hannah, Cecil will be fine.” Ron and Beth said.
“I’ve made sure he can handle anything Nathaniel can throw at him.” Flandre said.
“Yes, Cecil is very capable of this task. Please don’t worry.” May and Jay said.
Cecil smiled as his friends reassured Hannah that he would be okay. He looked towards Nathaniel and sighed. If he said no, Nathaniel would act up even more. If he said yes, there was no telling what would happen in the morning. He smiled to Nathaniel.
“If course I’ll stay with you Nathaniel. I promise I’ll sleep here…Right beside you.” Cecil said.
He knew he would regret it in the morning. Then again it would be fun to see Nathaniel’s face in the morning. Cecil smiled as he got up with Nathaniel still in his grasp. He pulled back the covers and placed Nathaniel in the bed. He sat on it and smiled at his friends.
“Would everyone please leave my Brother and I? We would like to retire for the night.” Cecil said nicely.
Clyde smiled back at his friend.
“Okay, we get it… Let’s leave the brothers alone. Come on Miss Hannah. Like I said. He can handle Nathaniel.” Clyde said as he led Hannah out of the room.
Everyone else gave a small wave as they headed out of Nathaniel’s room. He heard the door close with a click. He got up once more and locked the door. He sat back in bead and blew out the candle. He laid down in the bed and pulled the covers over him and Nathaniel. He laid on his side with his right arm pillowing his head and the other was draped over Nathaniel.
“Good night Nathan. Sleep well.” Cecil said as he waited for Nathaniel’s breathing to even out so that he could go… Probably.

Seeing his brother’s eyes widen, Nathaniel started to wonder if he had done something wrong. His tears that had almost stopped flowing now did so once again as sadness marked his beautiful face. He did not want for his brother to dislike him. Then he would rather sleep alone in his bed even if he knew what would then happen next. Just the thought of it send shivers down his spine and his body started to tremble once again as he flung his arms around his brother’s neck, not wanting to let go. Here, right now, like this was when he felt the safest. If just his brother would not leave him then everything would work itself out.
Hannah allowed Clyde to pull her away from Nathaniel and Cecil though her eyes never left her young master. She listened to the other servants’ reassuring though she was still reluctant to leave the two of them behind. Had they noticed that Nathaniel was actually not blind? She was happy that Cecil had not reacted strongly to the colour of the earl’s eyes, but what would he think if he knew that this whole blindness was just a façade? He would surely have questions afterwards about what was going on and Hannah believed he deserved some answers, though she was not sure how to give them without the young master finding out. Revealing some of the deepest secrets of the Sinclair household would be the same as giving yourself the death sentence. But surely there were some things she could tell him? She did not want Nathaniel to think that she was disloyal but she also honestly thought he needed someone he could confide in – someone he could share his sadness and happiness with. A friend. Even though the young master did not trust the actor, Hannah did and so she finally agreed to leave the two of them alone in the room, hoping that there would come something good out of it afterwards.
Hearing his brother agree to stay the night in his bedroom made Nathaniel overjoyed. He barely noticed the servants leave but just hugged his older brother tightly, this time tears of joy flowing from his blood red eyes. Then when Cedric got up to lock the door, Nathaniel was confused. Was he planning to leave after all? He grabbed his brother’s hand and looked at him with pleading eyes and only when Cedric promised that he was not going to leave did the earl slowly and hesitantly let go of his hand, eyes following his every move as he was ready to jump up from the bed and run after his brother should this one show any signs of leaving. But he returned and the relief clearly showed on the boys face.
Nathaniel lay down in the bed and as he felt Cedric’s arm around him, he snuggled up to his brother their bodies slightly intertwining in the process. He looked up at his brother’s face giving him an angelic smile before kissing the tip on his nose with soft lips and then hid his blushing face in the taller male’s chest. “Goodnight, Brother,” he whispered in his chest, feeling how his own heart was beating faster than normal. The heat that seeped from Cedric’s body started to make him drowsy and his eyelids suddenly felt heave and slowly closed as his breath began to even out. This felt nice. Like sleeping in a nest – just Cedric and him. Was now the right time to tell his brother how he felt about him? Nathaniel’s blush darkened the heat from his cheeks undoubtedly obvious on the actor’s chest. Soon he would be heading into the land of dreams – dreams in which his brother would most likely appear as well.

Cecil’s cheeks almost heated at the feel of Nathaniel’s lips. Nathaniel was cute no doubt, but something bad could happen if he kept that up. He felt Nathaniel’s breathing start to slow and he knew that he was close to slumber. He smiled.
‘I’m gonna miss this Nathaniel, but all good things must indeed come to an end.’ Cecil thought as he felt Nathaniel’s face heat up a bit.
Now what was he thinking? Cecil was one case that could be thinking unspeakable things but Nathaniel too? He sighed as he shifted his leg…He couldn’t. He felt another’s heat near his leg. He now knew that there was no way he was going anywhere when Nathaniel went to sleep.
‘Oh. Well. I might as well stay here. The least I can do is…’ Cecil thought as he held Nathaniel closer and his own eyes slid close.
“Don’t worry Nathan, I’ll protect you as I have my friends.” He murmured before he slipped away.
~dream~
“No,no hun. You must put some more emotion into it.” Elizabeth said with a smile on her face.
A little Cecil nodded as he put on a cunning face and voice.
“What to do~ What to say~ Shall you carry our treasure away~.” He said as his eyes pleaded his mother.
“Good, but I think we’ll make your father Monsieur Thénardier. You wanna be Gavroche?” She asked.
Cecil nodded as the clock chimed.
“Oh, dear, that time already? Cyril! Come on!” Elizabeth said as she grabbed Cecil’s hand.
She pulled him until they met up with his father, who was in the back row of the auditorium. Cyril stood up and smiled at his wife, but playfully glared at his nine year old son.
“That was wonderful Lizzy. And Ciel, you must indeed listen to your mother. Put more feeling in your acting okay? Next time we do Les Miz, you maybe the Monsieur Thénardier. So practice a lot okay?” He asked.
“Yes, Papa. Mama, can we go home now? I wanna eat.” Cecil said.
Both of his parents laughed.
“ Of course, come on my little actor.” Elizabeth said as she grabbed both of her males’ hands.
She led them to the carriage. They watched as Clyde’s father opened the door. They told him a bunch of time not to do this, but he still did it anyway.
“ Thank you Kane.” They coursed as they stepped inside of the carriage.
“Welcome.” He said as he closed it.
Cecil sat in between his mother and father with a grin. This would be one of the rare nights that they spent together and he was happy!
“Mama, has my acting gotten a bit better?” Cecil asked as the carriage started moving. Elizabeth looked down at her son.
“Yes, it’s improved a lot. It would gotten better quicker if your father would help.” She said as she looked at her husband.
“Hey, hey. Don’t go blaming me. You’re the one who didn’t approve of my training exercises.”
“Only because you’d make him repeat his lines over and over again, until he’d say it so emotionlessly, that it wouldn’t even qualify as acting!” Elizabeth said.
Cyril opened his mouth to say something, but refrained against it. They all felt a bump and came out of their seats a little.
“Did Kan run over a rock again?” Elizabeth asked.
Cyril slid the window curtain aside and peeked. He closed it back and looked at his wife. He shook his head and laced his fingers together roughly. Elizabeth knew what that meant. She held Cecil close to her, her arms wrapping around him. The carriage jumped again, but this time went over on one wheel for awhile. Cyril joined his wife in protecting their child by wrapping his arms around Cecil’s other side and shielding him also.
“Cecil, you know Mama and Papa love you no matter what right?” Elizabeth said.
Cecil nodded.
“Yes and I love Mama and Papa.” He said as they closed in tighter.
The carriage gave one more bump, but this time it feel over and rolled roughly. Cecil was lodged tightly between his parents bodies and seemed to never move an inch from his spot. It may have been a few minutes before it stopped. The carriage was on its side and Cecil was in between his parents, their bodies cushioning everything, from the final bum, to their fall. Cecil stayed there and listened for his parents voices. He must have stayed like that for a few minutes, before he wiggled to put his ear to his mother’s heart. Nothing.
“Papa! Mama’s heart’s not…” He stopped, he didn’t feel his father’s breathing. He heard the carriage door open and a silhouetted figure extended his hand for Cecil
~~
Cecil jumped awake with a start. He was in a cold. He looked out the window and saw the sun’s first light. He slowly detached himself from Nathaniel and sat up in the bed. That dream, no, memory again. He’d been having that one for a while now. He gently wiped his hand across his face and shook his head. He shifted his head to Nathaniel and saw two crimson eyes looking back at him.
‘Please tell me that he sleeps with his eyes open!’ Cecil thought as he jumped out of the bed.
“Good morning Young Master.” He said with a smile.

The land of dreams was embracing him oh so lovely and for once these dreams were far from his previous ones filled with anger, sorrow, frustrations and horror. To tell the truth, Nathaniel rarely had a good night’s sleep as many things in his everyday life, the family business, the situation with his mother, his continued fleeing from his stepfather and his struggle to regain everything his traitor of an uncle had tried to take away from him. In his dreams he was allowed to see and though he wanted to be free of his worries at least when he went to bed, he had never been able to as the constant fear of his stepfather coming to visit him in his bedroom was enough to drive him insane. Until now.
He could not remember the last time that he had felt this good. So comfortable and safe that his worries had been instantly washed away and his body relaxed at last, softening in the actor’s arms. The warmth surrounding him had spread to his entire body, through his flesh and bones and all the way into his marrow. His slender fingers rested lightly on Cecil’s bare chest, clenching slightly and causing his cold nails to touch the warm skin of the other’s body. He shifted closer, seeking even more warmth from the other’s body and continued his sleep, not having woken up even once after Cecil had started sleeping next to him.
The actor’s sudden jump initialized Nathaniel’s own awakening, though this one went considerably slower. His mind was in a daze as he was not fully awake yet and he found himself unable to understand why the warmth from the comfortable arms around him suddenly disappeared, his confusion causing his forehead to wrinkle slightly. He opened his crimson eyes slowly, everything appearing a little blurry to him in the morning. They fell on the actor and his half naked form, narrowing slightly as his vision became clearly as he studied the other’s fine shape that had no doubt made women fall in love with him on sight. And as he looked down at him, Nathaniel finally saw his face for what he thought was the first time, not able to remember the episode during the night that had caused the actor to end up sleeping right next to him to begin with. Purple – both hair and eyes, and quite a remarkable colour indeed much like Nathaniel’s own crimson hues. His eyes… it was as if they drew him closer, demanding his attention. An actor’s eyes. Beautiful eyes matching a handsome face.
The breathtaking view in front of him caused his cheeks to blush just slightly, though the heat vanished as his cheeks pale when the other started to speak. His eyes widened right until he realized that their ugliness was fully visible to the other and the fact that one of his most important and well-kept secrets had been exposed so easily. He snapped them shot at once, pulling the bed blanket closer around his body as if to cover it more though his night garments had already done so pretty well, only revealing one naked pale shoulder. “What the hell are you doing in my room? IN MY BED?!” He was desperate, his half-asleep brain trying to work up a solution though he had found none so far. He had to make sure that the actor did not walk around and spill the beans about his eyes to anyone and right now the only thing his blank mind could come up with was to get rid of the other male entirely. Yet… something just did not feel right about that either.

Cecil watched as Nathaniel pulled up the sheets. Its not like he had anything Cecil himself did not have. If he was trying to cover up the blush, it was too late. Cecil had already seen it. He jumped at the yelled questions directed to him.
‘I promised Miss Hannah I wouldn’t tell, so lie? I can’t tell a direct lie, my habit always gives it away. I’ll do “Deceiving” guy then.’ Cecil thought as he slipped the mask on.
“ Well, I thought I was my room. I patrol at night and by the time I’m done, I get sooo sleepy that I sometimes don’t know which room is mine and which room is not.” Cecil said.
It wasn’t a complete lie. It seemed to serve a good enough answer to Nathaniel’s questions.
‘I don’t think Nathaniel will believe me even if I did tell him the truth.’ Cecil thought as he walked to the dressers.
He pulled out some of his ‘aristocrat’ outfits and chose a deep red with black lining. He walked back to Nathaniel and placed them on the bed. He then got Nathaniel’s clothes from the day before and laid them on top of the costumes. Nathaniel’s clothes were slightly smaller, so he didn’t have to tailor them. He put his hand on his face. He couldn’t put on any of his facades in the morning. That was his Achilles heel. He couldn’t lie, he could just barely make his acts believable.
“So Young Master, what do you say you get dressed and I fix something to eat?” Cecil asked.

Had Nathaniel dared to open his eyes, he would have been glaring at Cecil. How he could possibly have the nerve to walk into his room and even go as far as to sleep right beside him was beyond him, yet it showed him just how bold the actor was and just how horrible his manners actually was. He could not possibly be a noble and had he been then Nathaniel quickly concluded that he had fallen from his grace. He had not tried to… do anything during the night, had he? With the actor’s attitude so far, he would not have been surprised yet his body did not feel any different from normal – to the Cecil’s luck. If it had, sudden death would have been inevitable. But… he had still been laying right beside him the whole night. Though how Nathaniel had actually been able to sleep through that seemed like an even greater mystery. He was certainly not ready to admit that it might have been because he had actually liked it.
The nobleman arched an eyebrow to Cecil’s explanation. So he just walked in here by accident? That was… plausible. He knew that his younger stepsister had done that sometimes, but was this just a lie? Nathaniel was sure that if he had been able to see Cecil’s face then he would have known for sure. Something about his voice made Nathaniel slightly doubt his words but unfortunately he could not risk the chance to reveal his eyes once again just to make sure. His explanation would have to do for now. At least he would end up looking sophisticated by accepting the explanation – or naïve, but if that ended up being his conclusion then Cecil was certainly going to be surprised later. Without any further evidence, Nathaniel did not want to go ahead and just accuse him of anything.
“I see…” he started and loosened his grip on the blanket that he had been literally clutching to for a long moment now. “That certainly explains what happened… but do be careful in the future. Not everyone will be as forgiving as me and luckily for you I’m a guy.” Not as if that had ever stopped his stepfather. Straightening his back and gathering his dignity, he now sat straight up in the bed with his head held high. Now there was just one major problem. Had Cecil seen his eyes and did he and did he know that his blindness was just a fraud? Just asking about it bluntly would surely reveal that the matter was important to him and could give Cecil the opportunity to pressure him for money later. He could not allow that. Fortunately, he had an idea.
“Breakfast surely sounds lovely. Now those garments that you have found for me, do they happen to match the colour of my eyes? You see such matters are rather important and Hannah worried about it a great deal.” It was a perfect lie. Now Nathaniel just had to wait and see if Cecil fell into his trap. Whenever he left the room, this young nobleman would have the chance to check the colour of the clothes and know whether Cecil knew about his secret or not. His cause of action would have to be decided after that.

Cecil watched Nathaniel as he seemed to ponder whether or not his excuse could be passed. Has he thought, the excuse was acceptable.
“I will try to be more careful in the future Young Master.” Cecil said as he shifted his eyes to Nathaniel.
Hew knew that closed eyes lid would be covering his eyes. But why were they always covered? He sighed. To have eyes like that, Cecil would show them off every chance he got. They were nothing to be shamed of. In fact most people he knew would kill for eyes like that. The were unique and an uncommon. They made him who he was. They were like Cecil’s Hair and Eyes; they were his trademark. Cecil frowned. This was ticking him off. Why keep the façade? He let out a frustrated noise before hearing Nathaniel speak once more.
“I would not know. Only Hannah knows their appearance. The clothes I have set out for you have been in this room since my second to last play. It is Blood red with black lining. Now if you will excuse me, I shall set off to be making breakfast. When I am done, I shall bring some to you.” Cecil said as he turned on his heel and walked out of the door.
He picked it up and set it upright to cover Nathaniel from view. He walked down the hallway and stopped in front of Hannah’s door. He rapped on it.
“Hannah, The Young Master is awake and probably will require your assistance.” Cecil said before he went to the kitchen.
He washed his hands and proceeded to take out all of the cooking items he would need. He started with mixing for the Scones. He poured the flower in and poured some milk in. He picked up some sugar and added that. He picked up his wooden spoon and began to mix it.
“What’s for breakfast?” Clyde’s voice asked.
“Scones and pancakes with some Jackson’s Earl Grey why?” Cecil asked as he turned around to Clyde.
He watched as Clyde picked up another mixing bowl. He smiled as Clyde put in flour, milk, some cinnamon and sugar in it. He picked up a wooden spoon and began to mix it.
“Thanks for the help.” Cecil said as he put a pan on the stove.
He turned it on and wait for it to heat up. He pulled out a cookie sheet pan and began to put clumps of his batter in it. Once it was filled up, he put it in the oven. While he was doing that, Clyde was already putting pancakes in the pan. He flipped the pancake after a while. “Ciel, will you get me a big plate?” Clyde asked.
“Yep.” He said as he went in the cabinets and pulled out the one that was about the size of one and a half of his head.
He walked back over to Clyde and held the plate out to get the pancake. Clyde placed it on there, only to be pouring another on on there. Cecil place the plate near Clyde so He could be ready to prepare the tea and check on the Scones. He opened the oven and scanned it. The scones still were not ready yet so he set to making the tea. He placed the tealeaves in the strainer before putting it in the hot water which was on the stove next to Clyde. “So, how’s the pancakes coming along?” Cecil asked.
“This is the last one.” Clyde said as he put it on the plate with dozens of other pancakes.
Cecil nodded as he opened the oven. He reached up for the oven mitt and placed it over his hand. He grabbed the tray and pulled it out. He didn’t burn any this time! That was an accomplishment. He placed it on the counter.
“Oh MY! They’re not burnt! It’s a curse!” Clyde said as he handed Cecil two plates and some honey.
“Oh Hahaha. Very funny.” Cecil said as he took a fork and placed three pancakes, and two scones on each plate.
He went to another cabinet and got two carrying trays. He placed a set of breakfast on each tray and watched as Clyde grabbed the tea set after lifting the strainer out and placing two cups on its tray with the pot. Cecil placed the trays on his Jocky as Clyde place the teach set on the bottom.. (ooc:Yes he named the cart Jocky.) Cecil nodded his hand in thanks and began to walk back to Nathaniel’s room. He just hoped everything wasn’t too sweet. He was also wondering if they were having a time with the suit he had picked out. That was a difficult one to put one, but them again, he hadn’t dressed like that since he was younger Cecil smiled as Nathaniel’s room was right in front of him. He stepped away from Jocky and knocked on Nathaniel’s door.
“I’m coming in with breakfast!” Cecil said before he picked up the door and put it on the wall.
He walked back to Jocky and pushed it inside and stopped in front of Nathaniel’s bed. He poured tea in both cups and place one on each tray. He placed the first tray on Nathaniel’s lap and the other to Hannah.
“Today’s breakfast is Scones and Pancakes with Honey and Jackson’s Earl gray.” Cecil said as he handed them the proper eating utensils.
“Oh, if its too sweet, I’m sorry. Everyone in this house hold has a sweet tooth. We can make something else if that doesn’t suit your taste.” Cecil said as he wiped his cheek, leaving a flour streak on his cheek.

The sound of the sigh as well as the frustrated noise coming from Cecil’s lips caused his eyelids to quiver. Had he managed to offend him in some way? Unfortunately, it was a risk that he had to take. He just had to know at any cost. He had to know if Cecil knew the truth about his eyes – a secret that had been well kept by his family for thirteen years yet had through this fateful encounter threatened to be revealed more than once much to the earl’s dismay and frustration. Risk? Nathaniel could have laughed. It made it sound as if offending Cecil bothered him, yet the actor had done much worse to him so far. They were not friends, hardly acquaintances and the chances of them seeing each other after this were slim.
He waited for the sound of the door closing behind the actor before he once again opened his eyes and glanced at the clothes beside him on the bed. Crimson with black lining. Just as Cecil had told him. For a moment it made him doubt whether or not Cecil had really seen his eyes, but there was no use continuing at worry over it like this before he had some actual proof of it. For now he just had to believe his words. He reached out to touch the fabric with his slender fingers. Soft and of good quality and all in all a very well executed piece of clothing. It would probably fit him nicely.
Hearing a knock on the door, Nathaniel once again closed his eyes before allowing whoever it was to enter, first opening them again when hearing Hannah’s voice, crimson hues darting a look at her. “Do you need help with your clothing, young master?” He watched the old lady’s friendly smile though the tiredness in her eyes did not pass him by. Hannah was getting old. Maybe she would soon be too old to look after him anymore and he would lose one of the only true friends and comfort that he had in his life. Just the thought about it bothered him more than he thought he would, though he pushed it aside not wishing to think about such things for the moment.
“Yes, please if you will be so kind. It seems like the actor has found a quite… interesting piece to put on,” he said, rising from the bed and snatching the pants from on top the covers and afterward starting to slide them on. Allows his nanny to help him pull of his shirt and put on the new as well as the rest of the garment, taking only a bit longer than usual as it turns out to be more complicated constructed than first believed. Turns around and looks into the mirror in his fully dressed state, holding his hand out and soon finding the cane to be in his palm. Stands like the nobleman he is for a moment, back straight and head held high, watching his image for a moment.
It… suited him quite nicely. The well composed mix of black and red matched his hair and eyes to a T and only made his beautiful crimson eyes stand out even more. Which also meant that it was even more important now that wore the cloth around his eyes. “Nanny~” He held out his free hand, knowing that she would understand and bring him the now clean silk piece of fabric that he normally wore around his eyes. Feeling the soft fabric touch the palm of his hand he brought it up to his eyes and made sure that the phoenix was placed in the centre, taking another look at his reflection before finally blindfolding himself, tying the knots tightly on the back of his head to make sure that the piece did not accidentally fall of. And just in time it seemed.
The knock on the door caused Nathaniel to turn around and feel for the bed before sitting down on it, back straight and head held high as he listened to the actor returning to the guest room with what sounded like a trolly, the sound of the rolling wheels softened by the carpet. He did not even turn his head towards the actor, though removed his folded hands from his lap to make space for the tray. He wondered shortly if Cecil was still mad if he had even been so in the first place, though from what he could hear the actor sounded pretty joyful. Which was good, he supposed and though he told himself not to care he could not help but feel just a little relieved.
He shook his head. “No, this is just fine,” he said and waited for the tea to be poured before taking a sip from it, being careful not to burn his tongue and taking his time to savour the taste. Had he not already been blindfolded, he would have closed his eyes. “Delicious,” he muttered, a small smile crossing his lips before he turned his head towards the actor, the smile replaced by wondering. “Aren’t you planning to eat anything?” he asked, not really liking the fact that he might have to sit and eat on his own with two other people watching him, especially not with this sort of meal. Though it sounded good, it was not the easiest thing for a ‘blind’ person to eat and however much Nathaniel trusted his own skills at this, he would feel more comfortable if someone was to join him. After all that would take some of the distraction away from his own meal.
“I would feel bad, if I prevented my host from receiving his breakfast.” His words were no more than a disguise for his real intentions and were followed by a suggestion, “Why don’t you join me?” He sat still, face in the actor’s direction and did not seem about to continue his meal before he had gotten an answer from Cecil.

Cecil smiled as his cooking was praised in the slightest. He blinked as he was invited to eat with Nathaniel and Hannah. He smiled gently.
“Not to be rude Young master, but I always eat with Clyde and the others… Perhaps I may bring them in here to eat. I’m sure you will love the company.” Cecil said as he held back a chuckle.
When all of them got together and food was presented, it could be quite funny. Cecil bowed to Hannah and Nathaniel before he turned to leave.
“I shall return soon.” He said as he rolled Jocky out of the door and closed it.
Cecil walked slowly down the hallways and came to a stop halfway down. He could feel his hair shift. Something was amiss. He looked towards one of the paintings and shook his head. He continued his way to the kitchen and ducked when he saw a knife come his direction.
“You didn’t have to eat it you know!” Beth said as she yelled at Ron.
“Now, now. Let’s not have to fix the kitchen again…Get him outside.” Cecil said.
“You’re so mean C.C!” Ron whined.
Cecil walked over to the door and stopped. It was cracked open… He whirled around to his friends and saw all of them inside, still working. There was no way they could have been outside!
“Did anyone go outside?” Cecil asked.
He received several responses of “no”. His eyes widened. Someone had broken in!
“Everyone, put everything down and get anything sharp and possibly injure someone!” He ordered.
“Why is there”
“Something wrong CC?” The twins asked.
“Some one is inside, “ He looked towards Clyde, “ And yes I did lock the door before I came back in.”
Clyde put his bowl down and grabbed a butcher’s knife. He saw Ron pat his pocket, Beth reach inside her top and pull out her sai, May and Jay pull out their twin daggers, Flandre crack her knuckles and he nodded. They were ready…
“Okay May and jay, west wing is yours, Ron and Beth, This wing, Clyde and Flandre you have the east. I will take the north where Nathaniel and Hann…” He stopped.
“Damn!” He shouted as he rushed passed them.
“CC-“
“GO now before he or she or they make the first move. Retrain them and alert everyone if you do okay?” He asked.
“What about you CC?” Clyde asked.
“I’m fine. I have “Sadistic guy” on my side.” He smiled and ran back out of the kitchen.
He bared his teeth as he ran. He knew something wasn’t right and yet he just walked past it like it was nothing! Cecil stopped and closed his eyes. Okay, he was awake now and he needed to grab the situation at hand. He opened his eyes and seemed to glide through the hallway to Nathaniel. He opened the door and let a twisted smile show on his face.
“I’m back Young one.” He said his voice a purring monotone.
He walked in the center of the room and placed himself on the floor. He sat sideways so he could see Nathaniel, Hannah, the window and the door all at the same time.
“Let Everyone Tell Some Great Earnest Tales. Of Under Taker’s Outrages Fits are Heard in Every Room’s Entrance.” He said.
If Nathaniel was smart which Cecil knew he was, he would get the message encoded in there. Besides, he didn’t want whoever was in here to hear what he was trying to do.
