So he always ate with his servants? Nathaniel raised an eyebrow at the comment. No noble, at least none of the ones he knew, would ever go as low as to eat with mere servants. Cecil was not a noble that much was for certain. If he was then he had some odd ways of behaving. Maybe poor nobles tended to behave like this? Nathaniel knew for a fact that if he ever sat down in the kitchen to eat with the maids and chefs in his mansion then his mother would have a fit and probably despise him even more than she already did. He didn’t want for anything like that to happen. Somehow envy started to creep up on him as it dawned upon him that the actor appeared to be a lot freer to do whatever he wanted compared to him.
As Cecil suddenly offered to have the servants eat together with them all in Nathaniel’s room the earl suddenly flinched. What?! He opened his mouth, about to speak up and make a protest to such an unreasonable suggestion, though the actor seemed to have a way of sneaking away from those and managed to leave the room before Nathaniel had the chance to say anything. The servants are going to eat here?! That could not be! He turned towards Hannah as if seeking some sort of help from her though was only faced with the sound of soft giggling. She was finding this amusing?! That was like pouring oil onto flames.
”Hannah! How dare you laugh at this! I can’t possibly eat with them!” His voice was marked with both frustration and anger, though the anger was still mostly due Hannah’s increased giggling. ”But I’m sure the young master would enjoy it if everyone joined in on the meal. The more the merrier.” Nathaniel was almost unable to believe that his nanny would actually go as far as to say something like that. He wanted to open his mouth to make more complaints, then it struck him that he was showing a lack in manners here. This was Cecil’s house. If he wanted to eat with his servants then he could and whether or not he made Nathaniel eat with them all as well was yet another way of telling if Cecil knew anything about how to treat important guest - which in short meant that he didn’t. He knew that if it was his mother who had been in this kind of situation, she would have been absolutely furious. Nathaniel was far from pleased with this situation, though at the same time something in him didn’t want to be like his mother either.
The earl let out a heavy sigh. ”I do not necessarily agree with that, nanny. You are speaking up when it is not your place to do so. Please refrain from that in the future,” he said, taking another sip from his tea and already dreading the moment when Cecil would be leading all of his servants here. ”I apologise, young master.” From the sound of rustling clothes, Nathaniel guessed that Hannah had bowed yet he still had the feeling like she was smiling all over her face.
Suddenly the sound of running footsteps reached his ears and he turned his head towards the door in wonder, not quite able to understand what was going on. He heard Cecil enter and recognized him on his voice, though the tone of it sounded a lot different than it had when he left the room. Something was wrong. Nathaniel could feel it and at once his body tensed, though on the outside he tried to behave normally. What was going on here? He felt his heart clench in his chest and knew that it was not the time to argue with the actor. He had the feeling that something dangerous was going on and it didn’t take long for him to understand the message, which Cecil was trying to convey to him.
”I understand,” he said and took his time to place his cup down on the tray, then raised his hands to undo the blindfold and put the silk cloth down on the bed. His mind was clear and from Cecil’s way of acting it seemed like it was best to pretend that he didn’t know anything about what was going on. That being said he wanted to be able to defend himself should the situation call for it and so he had undone his blindfold, yet still kept his eyes closed. Then if he had to he could open his eyes and better act in whichever way was necessary and properly be able to use his cane as a weapon if he had to. He rose from the bed, took his cane with one hand and reached out towards Hannah with the other so that she could lead him out of the room, yet no sooner had he done so before he got the uncomfortable feeling that someone else was in the room.
” When Everyone Answers Rightfully, Every Noteworthy Obstacle Tarnishes Another’s Legacy Over Night Everywhere,” he said, using the actors code and tightening the grip around his cane.

Cecil watched as Nathaniel got up. So he had figured out the message, correct? He stood as well, dusting himself off. His head snapped up as he heard something. ‘Great..are you kidding me? They’re in the room?’ He thought as Nathaniel conveyed a message onto him. He gnarled his teeth together as he nodded. He backed towards Nathaniel and Hannah, in an effort to protect them. “You can come out now…you’re not very sneaky ya know.” He called. He saw a movement from his right and turned his body in its direction. He was awarded with clapping.
“My my. Such nice friends the little one has over this time, correct?” He wasn’t British, his accent gave it away. Russian maybe? He walked towards them and Cecil glared. “Oh my, it seems even she has a guard dog here hunh?” He laughed.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Cecil asked, this guy’s voice already annoying him.
“The person this home used to belong to. You see, she was a very…special person to my master.” He sighed. “What am I going to do? Shall I tell him that his precious gem has been moved, or shall I give him another in her place?” He asked, looking at Nathaniel. Cecil’s glare increased. “If you’re talking about this ruby behind me, or this diamond as well…you can’t have them. If you even try, I’ll kick your butt into next year’s show. Now leave while I’m giving you a chance. You won’t get anymore!” Cecil said as he walked forward so that he was only standing a few feet away from the Russian. “Hahaha. I like you, little one. Maybe I shall give you to him as well?” He asked as smiled down at Cecil.
‘Damn Russians. If they’re bigger than you, they let you know it.’ Cecil though. He stood six foot, so at least this Russian monster…well he was about as big as Cecil in length…was at least six foot three. There was too much reach in between them for Cecil to fist fight with him. “Hannah, please take Nathaniel and get out of here.”
“They’re not going any-“
“Hannah! Take him and get out o-“ He was cut off by a punch to the gut. He bent over in pain as the Russian held his arm there. He looked up at him and smiled. “If that the best you can do? Flandre hits harder than you and she’s a girl! Ha!” He said before receiving a punch to the side of his face. He tipped over and landed on his knees. He was a little dizzy from that one, but nothing he couldn’t handle. “Is that the best you got? If so, you’d better just run out of here cause if Beth sees what you did to the carpet, you’re dead meat.” He said before he spit out blood. He stood up and wiped the side of his face. He ran to the taller male and latched on to his middle, only to be picked up and thrown on the floor. He hit the floor with such impact that he bounced twice before a foot was pressed against his ribcage. He looked up and nearly frowned. Why weren’t they gone yet? “DAMNIT HANNAH! Get Nathaniel out of here! It’s gonna take more than this to keep me down, now go!” He yelled before he was stomped on. “hck!” A little blood came out as he was stomped. He grabbed the shoe and tried to lift it up, but his upper body wasn’t what it was supposed to be.
“Hahaha. What’s wrong little man? A little tired are we?” He asked as he stomped on Cecil even more. With each stomp Cecil could feel his rib cracking a little. He smiled. There was no way he was going out like this, but what could be do? The only weapon he had on him was a pocket knife and…’Duh!’ he thought before he reached in his pocket to pull out a bright pink oval. “Aww~ he has his mummy’s knife. Tough it can’t do anything. A girl’s pocketknife is sharp enough to cut her hair, nothing more.” He laughed. Then he didn’t know Beth. Cecil flicked it open and stabbed his ankle with it. He Russian grabbed his ankle mid stomp just long enough for Cecil to roll up to his feet. ‘damn, now he had another weapon to use on me.’ Cecil though as his vision started to blur.
“ Oh you think you’re tough don’t you little man? Well I got something for-“ Cecil cut him off with a swift chop to the adam’s apple. If that didn’t work, then he was flat out of ideas. He heard a familiar “clang “noise followed by a thump. He looked up and saw Ruth’s famous “I just clunked you with a frying pan” pose. He laughed.
“And this is number?”
“Sixteen times I’ve saved your life.”
“Ah.” He said as he held his mid section. That and his chest were throbbing like hell. “Are Nathan and Hannah okay?” He asked. He saw them all nod. He breathed a sigh of relief before walking over to the bed and sitting down on it with a groan. “He got me good, I’ll tell you that…at least everyone’s safe right?” He smiled.
“And you’ve once again succeed in lookin like a hero and making everyone worry about you at the same time. “ Clyde said from the doorway.
“Shut up. I don’t see you with potentially fractured ribs.”
“True, but I do see an idiot who’s willing to do anything for his friends…and some sweets.” This caused all of the friends to laugh. That was Cecil to a T alright.

Nathaniel flinched at the sound of clapping echoing in the room. He had been right. They were not alone and from the sound of it the intruder didn’t have any good intentions. For a moment he feared that it was one of his uncle’s men who had come to take revenge for that counter attack he had planned for him. Had he already found out? But the plan had not even been set into motion yet! But if that was in case then it meant that he was in danger and had probably brought his host in danger as well. Nathaniel cursed inwardly. Though Cecil had managed to annoy him to no end at times, he had not wanted for anyone to get dragged into his problems. The same counted for Hannah.
As soon as the stranger started to speak, however, his previous assumption turned out to be false. This is connected to Cecil? Turns his head towards the actor though keeps his eyes closed for now, then feels anger rise in him when the intruder suggest taking him with him instead of some woman who he was supposed to bring. ”I dare you try, you filthy dog! Just who do you think you are, sneaking into other people’s homes?!” Nathaniel was furious to say the least and he was just about to continue with his stream of threats and insults when Hannah tugged at his sleeve pleadingly.
”Young master please stop! This is not something you can handle! We should get out of here!” He heard a thud and a moan from nearby as the Russian landed his first attack on the actor. Cecil?! Suddenly he opened his eyes and shifted his grip on his cane, ready to strike at the intruder in order to create some distance between him and the actor, but yet again Hannah stopped him in the process. ”Young master, please, we have to go! You’re eyes!”
”I’m not just going to run like a coward and abandon this fight! Neither a Sinclair nor a Callahan would ever do such a thing!” He was furious and worst of all he his pride would be hurt if happened to just run away. And who was to tell what would happen to Cecil if they just left him on his own with the Russian. From the sound of it he was majorly overpowered and his chances on winning this battle on his own were slim. Nathaniel gritted his teeth. He really didn’t want to leave him like that, yet when Cecil told Hannah to leave with the earl for the second time, the elderly lady started to try to pull Nathaniel away from there.
”Let’s just do as Cecil says and get help!” Nathaniel’s eyes turned to the actor’s body on the floor and with an immense amount of self-hatred he did as he was told, closed his eyes and followed his nanny out of the room in a hurry, leaving the actor behind at the Russian’s mercy. On their way they rushed past Ruth and Hannah spoke a quick message to the servant, telling her that Cecil was in danger. The girl simply nodded at told the two of them to go to the room with the piano then continued towards Nathaniel’s room, the rest of the servants soon following her. In the meantime Nathaniel and Hannah changed direction and soon stood in the room with the piano, just like they had been told to do.
Nathaniel slapped Hannah’s hand away and walked away from her, then stopped in front of one of the windows, still keeping his eyes closed. The way he felt the wind brush against his face told him that it was open, though the earl didn’t pay much attention to that. Instead he bowed his head, raised his left hand to his forehead and clutched his cane, trying to calm down yet not being able to do so. He hated this. This feeling of helplessness which had always been a result of his forced ‘blindness’ and which had now returned when he had failed to do something just anything about the guy, who was currently beating Cecil up in his room. He was the worst, a disgrace to his family name. He had not felt such an amount of shame and dishonouring since his stepfather’s abuses and his frustration seemed to know no end.
He turned around, ready to let his anger and worry out on Hannah yet just as he was about to do so, strong hands grabbed him from behind and started to pull him out of the window. He heard Hannah scream and was about to open his mouth, but a big hand covered it and made him unable to let out anything but muffled sounds. Someone was trying to kidnap him?!
”YOUNG MASTER!!”

“AH!” Cecil groaned. He flinched as Beth wrapped the bandages tightly around his torso. He heard Beth scoff and roll her eyes.
“Stop being such a baby. Do you want Ruth to do it?” She asked. Cecil flinched and shook his head quickly. He rose both of his arms as beth tightened them even farther. It hurt like hell, but he bit his lip to bare with the pain. She was evil even when she was helping! Now that was a feat! Cecil looked over towards Clyde.
“Are Nathan and Hannah alright?” He asked.
Clyde sighed. Hadn’t they just answered that question? “ Yes, they are in our makeshift piano room.” He said. Cecil’s eyes scanned the room. Ron was messing with Flandre and the twins were trying to keep Flandre from knocking Ron out. Wait…All of them were in there with him. “Who’s watching Nathan and Hannah?” He asked as Beth finished dressing his bruised torso. They all looked at one another.
“You were our top priority Ciel. Besides, there was only him.” Ron said as he jerked his head in the Russian’s direction. Cecil groaned as slid a hand down his face.
“Guys like him never travel alone. If this was a script, we would have fallen for the most obvious…” He stopped. Nathan and Hannah were alone in the piano room… “SHIT!” he cursed as he hopped up and began to run down the hallway. He stopped halfway down, out of breath.
“Ciel!” the twins cried as they came up on either sides of him. “what is-“
“The big rush?”
Cecil panted as he rested his hands on his knees. “Nathan was called a gem. A substitute ruby in a way. So instead of getting the original one, they got a sort of duplicate.” He explained, causing both twins to look at each other and shrug their shoulders. “I’m other words, if I’m right about there being another, they would most likely go for Nathan…and if that’s the case, we are surely screwed.” He said before breaking out into a run once more.
YOUNG MASTER!
Cecil’s heart did about three back flips. That did not sound good! He forced himself to run faster, harder. What if something bad happened to Nathaniel? He turned a corner, his shoulder slamming into the wall in the process. He grunted and held it tight as he continued his way. When he had made it, he saw Hannah, but no Nathaniel. And from the way she was looking at the window, Nathaniel had to have been taken out of there that way. “Don’t worry Hannah, I’ll get him back!” Cecil said as he ran towards the window and jumped out of it. He frowned as he landed in the snow. It was cold out and he was bare chest with only bandages to keep him warm? Great. Well, in the calf deep snow, Nathaniel’s kidnapper couldn’t have gotten far. If anything, he or she would have gotten, a string of cursed caught his ear as he looked in its direction. He smiled and then frowned. They couldn’t make it anymore than a few paces east? Boy, were they new to this game. He ran as fast as he could and gave them an elbow to the back of the head. “Let Nathan go!” he yelled as the blow connected.
“GUH!”
‘Well at least he’s not Russian.’ Cecil thought as he watched the kidnapper stumble. That did not look good. He wasn’t bigger than Cecil, but in his current condition, he couldn’t catch the combined weight of the three of them and still stay up. He ran around to the front an literally snatched Nathaniel out of his hands and give him a swift kick to the gut. he took a few steps back as he fell to the ground, face first. “Are you okay Young Master?”He asked. He began to walk away, but looked back at the kidnapper. If he was left out there, he would freeze to death…why was he such a good person? Cecil adjusted Nathan so that he would be held with one arm, since the other had no shoes on and could easily catch a cold or even develop hypothermia. “Please bear with this for a little while young master. I promise, it won’t be long.” He said. With his other hand, he grabbed the kidnapper by the collar and began to drag him as he walked back to the window. “I’m still a little surprised he even tried to make it out. The snow is always thickest over there…or was it perhaps young master has some fight in him?” He teased as he stopped in front of the window. “Alright young master, in you go.” He said as he placed Nathan in the home and released from his grasp. Them he picked up the kidnapper. Cecil’s body screamed in protest as he lifted the male.
“Blaire will…have your…head for..this….” He said before Cecil pushed him in the window.
“Yeah and I’m a woman.” He said as he stepped in, watching as the twins dragged the male away. Most likely to place him somewhere in a closet. A large breath escaped from Cecil’s mouth, followed by a groan of pain.
“CC, you over did it again didn’t you?” Clyde asked as he stood over his friend.
“Hey, Nathan’s safe right? No one died right?” He asked and Clyde nodded to both questions. “Then I didn’t over do it!” He said before collapsing on the floor. His body was screaming as it pulsed with heat and needles.
“Ciel!” Beth and Flandre yelled as they stood beside Clyde, their hands on their faces. This was one of the few times they saw him so…broken.
“I’m…fine….everyone is safe. So I’m fine” He said as he tried to push himself to a sitting position. He failed a few times before he managed to prop himself up, panting as he did so. He stayed like that awhile before pushing himself of and leaning against the wall. “See? Perfectly fine~” he panted.

Nathaniel cursed himself over and over again. Had he not been so caught up in his shame and feelings of lost pride he would have heard that someone was sneaking in on him and perhaps even been able to avoid being abducted like this. Another blow to his pride though this was hardly the time to think about that. The hands and arms that held him were strong a determined, definitely not intending to just let him go. He felt himself almost fall into the thick snow outside and gasped as the cold hit his feet and body, the earl certainly not dressed for staying outside in the winter weather.
He felt how he was half carried half dragged through the snow and started thrusting about as if trying to get loose. He would be damned if his kidnappers managed to get away with him without being faced with some kind of resistance. The hand over his mouth prevented him to yell and call for help if he had wanted to. He tried to bite down on it hard while elbowing one of the strangers in his face, clearly hearing the cry of pain as he did so and for a moment the hand over his mouth vanished and allowed him to catch a proper breath of air before it was covered once again. ”Why you little, stay still!”
Nathaniel opened his eyes and sent the one who had spoken a death glare, causing the man to jump in surprise at the colour of his eyes. ”A demon?!” It caused Nathaniel the short distracted he needed to kick him in the stomach and strike the other across his head with his cane. For a moment he was free and the earl stumbled as he tried to make a run for it back to the house. He did not get far before his abductors had caught him again and yanked him backwards, twisting his right arm around his back and causing the noble to wince in pain. Then suddenly a hard fist struck his temple, black dots clouding his vision before he passed out, becoming limb in the men’s hands and much much easier to transport and dropping his cane in the process.
Cecil… He didn’t know why he was thinking about the actor now at all times as he slipped in and out of consciousness, but no longer had his mind called out to him before he thought he heard his voice calling his name and he opened his eyes dizzily to see characteristic purple hair stand out against the snow as the actor seemed to have suddenly appeared out of nowhere to protect the young noble. Then before realizing what was going on he was in his arms and getting carried by him for the third time in just two days, though he had no recollection of the second time it had happened. He looked up at him, for a moment forgetting that he was supposed to hide his eyes and drowsily trying to confirm that it was really the actor who had come to get him. ”Cecil is that you?”
He didn’t put up much of a protest as he was being carried – not until he noticed that Cecil’s chest was bare except from the bandages which had been wrapped around it. He widened his eyes then snapped them shut, as he remembered that Cecil would actually be able to see them like this. ”I’m fine, put me down and I will walk on my own! You should not be carrying me in a state like that!” He was worried though yet again the actor did not seem to give in to his protests, only letting him go when they had finally reached the house. Nathaniel felt the hard floor under his feet and only seconds later an old hands grabbing his arm and gently leading him away from the window.
”Young master, I’m so happy that you are alright.” He heard his nanny’s shaking voice and it didn’t take him long to realize that she had been crying as worried as she had been for his well-being and for some unknown reason he felt warmth spread in his heart because of it. She lead him over to a chair and helped him sit down while one of his kidnappers were dragged across the room and vanished out of the door together with the twins. ”I’m fine, Hannah, don’t worry about me,” he said, giving the old lady a smile before he suddenly froze at the sound Cecil getting inside and collapsing on the floor. He turned his head towards him without opening his eyes and felt how worry washed in over him and caused his heart to beat faster.
”Hannah, call for Doctor Johnson and make sure that he gets here as fast as possible!” he said and rose from the chair while starting to head over to the direction on Cecil’s voice. He realized that he had lost his cane and still keeping his eyes closed he felt incredibly vulnerable and in great danger of suddenly falling over something lying on the floor. He searched with his hands as he tried to make sure not to suddenly bump into a chair or something similar and managed to find the wall without too much trouble to his relief. Then walking along the wall with one hand tracing over it, he kept his right hand stretched out in front of him until he felt the skin of the actor’s bare shoulder against his fingers. Swiftly he withdrew his hand and kneeled down beside the actor, shedding his jacket and laying it over his chest in an attempt to give him some warmth as he was sure that he was feeling colder than he was.
Then he exploded. ”You bloody idiot! What the hell did you think you were doing rushing after me in a condition like that?! How stupid can you be?! If you were so determined to help me out you should have gotten some of your friends to do it instead! Just look at yourself! Aren’t you capable of thinking before acting at all?!” Nathaniel was royally pissed though most of his anger was actually directed at himself and his own helplessness and incapability to actually be able to do something and help out when it counted. To top it off he felt very much ashamed which perhaps was the worst of it all. But most importantly Nathaniel had never felt this worried about someone else’s wellbeing before in his entire life. He had never had anyone who would so blindly chase after him in order to safe him either. Not since Cedric died.
He couldn’t remember the last time he had actually completely dropped his manners and started cursing in order to properly get someone a scolding and he was indeed letting out all of his frustrations on Cecil. He was worried about him and it was a strange feeling, yet he did not push it away.
”You are not fine at all!” He felt like slapping the actor across the face though he was afraid to cause the actor any more pain than what he was probably currently experiencing. He just hoped that the doctor would be there soon.

Cecil’s eyes closed as he rested his head against the wall. Pins and needles. Pins and needles. He was covered in pins and needles. In some places it hurt. In others it felt amazing. He was glad that he could help Nathan and Hannah out, even at the cost of himself being killed as he could have very well been. When he felt someone’s hand on his shoulder he cracked and eye open and saw it retreat to it’s owner. He let a weak smile snake its way on is face, it was Nathan. He knew he might have been rather angry with him, carrying him and touching him and all, but a tongue lashing was something Cecil could take.
He jumped a little at the feel of cloth being put on him. It was… a jacket. From the feel of it, it was the one that went to the outfit he had picked out for Nathan. Soon, he heard Nathan explode on him. He knew it was coming sooner or later. But it felt nice. At least he knew that Nathaniel cared about him, otherwise, why wouldn’t he be scolding him right now?
“Well Nathan, I was thinking the worst. If I hadn’t rushed out to get you, you probably would have been killed and I couldn’t live with myself if that were to happen. Plus, I figured out their lines before my friends did, to I knew what was in the script. And you know us actors, we immediately take to the scene in a heartbeat.” He said. He smiled as Nathan’s next question, though rhetorical, he decided to answer. “ I don’t think I am at times, especially when my friends are in danger. My body moves on its own to protect them.” He said as a chill ran down his spine.
He was a little colder than he had first thought. Then again, he did go out into freezing weather with no shoes or socks on. He felt his stomach contract and release only to repeat the pattern over and over again. His eyes opened fully and saw his friends share worried looks. “I’m fine.” He said through chattering teeth. Clyde clicked his tongue. “You lie, but we’ll get a doctor anyway. The bastards cut our phone lines.” Clyde said as he went to a closet and put on a jacket, handing one to ron, Beth, and Flandre each. “I’m gonna leave the twins with you three. I think I should know were Doctor Johnson is. The hospital about half a mile up from here right?” clyde said as he opened the door. He let the other three go out before himself. “Cecil.”
“Hunh?”
“I don’t want to come back and find you a grave man.” Clyde said before closing the door.
Cecil smiled. Grave man hunh? He didn’t want to find him dead or serious, just his alive carefree self? He shivered even more, his eyes closing from the force of the chills. “Hannah, Please sit down. Stress i-i-is not g-g-g-good for s-s-s-someone of your age.” He stammered as his shakes became a bit worse. He couldn’t get up to even be a good host and he didn’t like these shakes. He pulled his legs in to cross them. Did the room get colder all of a sudden? “Nathan, are you sure that you’re okay? No b-b-b-bruises,-c-cuts or anyth-th-th-thing?” He asked as he placed a chilled and on Nathan’s forehead and then on his own, to make sure the other didn’t have a fever. Nathan didn’t, but he did. “Damnit.” He cursed under his breath as the shakes took over his body. When he heard the twins come back in he cracked his eyes open.
“May, Jay, would you two be good l-l-little doves and make a fire in the fireplace?” He asked as he felt sweat begin to bead at his forehead.
The twins looked at him. “But Cecil, you look…” “Hot already. Are you” “Sure?” They said. His face had began to look flushed and take on a slight pinkish tint. It made them worry for him, was this the same actor they had come to know and love? So broken?
“Y-y-y-yes I’m s-s-sure. Nathan, must be could right n-n-n-now, not to mention Hannah.” He said, offering them a close eyed smile. Nodding, they went to the fireplace, located a little ways in front of Cecil and Nathan and began to light it. Cecil rested his head against the wall again, groaning softly as his body gave those forced twitches again. This was a little more than he had bargained for…plus, he thought that maybe that one of his bruises had opened and was now bleeding. He let small pants leave his mouth as it got colder, but he was hot. Damn fevers! They always contradicted themselves.

Nathaniel did not know what to do anymore. The actor was hurt, he knew that much. He had heard how he had been beaten in their room and to top it off he had stupidly decided to chase after the earl as soon as he had been abducted all the way out in the cold. Cecil should not have been running in his state and certainly not both carried Nathaniel and dragged one of the abductors with him as well. Nathaniel cursed himself for not realizing sooner just how severe a state the actor was in. If he had he would have walked back to the house on his own, but unfortunately he had been too dizzy at the time to do much about it. It was a bad excuse or at least that’s what Nathaniel thought it was.
”You should think more about yourself rather than sacrificing yourself for the sake of someone else! You do not know for sure if they would have killed me! My father could have gotten me out with some ransom money!” That was always the way it was. Nobles were a great tool for bargaining and it was easy for someone to get rich by kidnapping one and then exchange the noble for money. Of course there was always the chance that the noble would end up getting killed instead but that was not the point.
Nathaniel felt how his body was slightly shaking. He was indeed a bit cold though it was nothing comparing to how Cecil was feeling at the moment and he certainly did not intend to start complaining about it. Why isn’t that doctor here yet?! Everything was going too slow and for some reason, Nathaniel found it hard to keep his eyes closed. He wanted to take a look at Cecil. He wanted to actually be able to see just how severe his situation was. But that meant that he would have to show them his eyes, those horrible crimson orbs. Cecil would know that he had lied about being blind and though Nathaniel did not like such lies, there was nothing to be done about it. Not if he wanted to stay on his mother’s good side at least and unfortunately for Nathaniel he did not know that Cecil and his friends had already promised not to tell anyone about it.
His head was throbbing and his temple felt a bit swollen. The hit he had taken there had given him a headache and he found himself still feeling a bit dizzy. He tried to ignore it, however. Cecil was the one who was seriously hurt. Cecil was the one who needed a doctor. Cecil was the one who might die. He might have been overreacting though judging from Cecil’s friends’ reaction, then the actor was not in any good condition at all. Nathaniel felt his heart drop when it was announced that the phone line had been cut. Why did such a thing have to happen now of all times?! Nathaniel felt like suing the phone company, though it was hardly their fault. He did not pay Hannah any attention as she just sat down in a chair, watching the scene and seemingly not knowing what to do either.
Nathaniel suddenly flinched as Cecil held his hand against his forehead, though he did not move away from him. “I fine! Stop worrying about me! You’re the one who is hurt here!” He thought he was fine at least. He did not intend to tell Cecil about his headache that was unimportant at the moment. He hesitated for a moment, then reached out with his hands and started rubbing his palms against Cecil arms as if trying to make the other feel warmer. ”Hannah always told me that you have to sweat the fever out especially if you’re feeling cold at the same time…” He was not sure if that was actually true but he didn’t know what else to do at the moment and he felt like he had to do at least something. Suddenly he felt something sticky against his hand. Was that blood?
“ The doctor is here!”
